Clement might daringly forego Dessers in Rangers’ move for a £6 million machine.

With the intention of expanding his offensive options, Philippe Clement and Glasgow Rangers are searching for a new striker this summer.

The Belgian manager may have an opportunity to trade Cyriel Dessers as the Gers have been connected to a striker who might improve the team’s present alternatives.

Rangers search for a new striker

The Ibrox team was reportedly interested in making a move for FC Rapid București center-forward Albion Rrahmani, according to Romanian news source Digi Sport. Slavia Prague is also interested in signing the midfielder and has made a bid of about €3 million (£2.5 million), which is far less than the £6 million his club is requesting.

It is obvious that Clement might have to let go of a few players in order to earn money for potential future additions, particularly if they would cost £6 million. Would this lead to Dessers being sold?

Why Albion Rrahmani could be a perfect Cyriel Dessers replacement

From the outside, it appears that Dessers had a successful first season in Glasgow, especially when considering his goal contributions. In fact, the 54 games saw the Nigerian international score 22 goals and provide nine assists. While this may sound remarkable, the seasoned striker missed a lot more opportunities than he converted, as evidenced by the startling 27 good chances he missed in the Premiership alone.

Due to various injuries sustained by Kemar Roofe and Danilo during the previous season, Clement was forced to continue using Dessers as his primary attacker. Hopefully, this won’t be the case coming into the 2024–2025 season with a few more signings. In light of his performance at the club level during the previous season, Rrahmani might be the man Clement is searching for. Throughout 2023–2024, the 23-year-old participated in 30 games, tallying 19 goals and dishing out five assists.

Rrahmani missed nine fewer high-quality opportunities domestically than Dessers did, suggesting that he may be more clinical in front of goal. The Kosovo international didn’t just shine in front of goal last season; he also showed that he could set up his teammates, as seen by the 13 major opportunities he created and the two crucial passes he made each game in the top flight. After his heroics for Rapid last season, Rangers Journal founder Kai Watson praised the center-forward, saying he was “on fire.”

“He’s another tall, powerful striker who definitely knows where the back of the net is,” Watson stated in addition. And this compliment implies that the child might be the solution to Clement’s offensive problems.

Given how much talent has to be added to the team, the next few weeks might be an intriguing time for arrivals and departures at the Ibrox side. There could be a significant turnover. If Clement has the funds available, he need to use them to bring Rrahmani to Glasgow this summer, particularly if his goal is to unseat Celtic’s reign at home in the coming years.
