KLEINDIENST: IN HIS SPEECH “IT’S A GREAT HONOUR FOR ME TO BE HERE”

Borussia Mönchengladbach | Kleindienst: "It's a great honour for me to be here"In his inaugural interview as a Foal, Tim Kleindienst sat down to discuss his initial impressions of Borussia, his playing strengths, and his aspirations for his tenure at the club.

Tim, welcome to Mönchengladbach! What have your first experiences with Borussia been like?

Tim Kleindienst: From the moment I arrived, I was truly overwhelmed. Borussia is such a massive club, evident not only in the stadium area but in its overall stature. It’s a tremendous honor for me to be here, and I’m incredibly eager to get started.

What did your first day at BORUSSIA-PARK entail?

Kleindienst: As many know, the first tasks upon joining a club of this caliber include medical checks and fitness assessments, which take up a good part of the day. I also finalized my contract and had some interactions with the media team. The day flew by, but it was a fantastic experience.

You’re the first Borussia player to receive the new jersey with your name and number on it. What are your thoughts on it?

Kleindienst: It’s a fantastic feeling, and I really like the jersey. I’m looking forward to wearing it in the stadium, aiming to score goals and achieve success while wearing it.

You played a pivotal role for 1. FC Heidenheim, helping them secure promotion, and had a strong debut Bundesliga season. What motivated you to take the next step with Borussia?

Kleindienst: I’ve been in contact with Borussia for quite some time now. I was impressed by the club as a whole, including its fans and atmosphere, which convinced me that this was the right move for me. It’s truly special to be part of such a club, and I can’t wait to get started. It’s also a significant personal opportunity for me to showcase my abilities at a club as prestigious as Borussia.

How would you describe your playing style?

Kleindienst: I’m strong in the air and versatile with both feet, which simplifies finishing. Despite my height, I also possess good speed and use my physicality effectively. Hard work, intensity, and mentality define my game. I aim to showcase these strengths on the pitch and bring a different dynamic to help the team improve.

What are your personal goals moving forward?

Kleindienst: Primarily, my goal is to score goals—always the most crucial task for a striker. Personally, I aim to reach double figures in goals each season. I believe it’s achievable at Borussia, given the quality of players around me. Beyond that, I want the team to perform at its best. Last season wasn’t ideal for us or the fans, so I hope to contribute to a successful campaign next season.

As a striker, how exciting is it for you to see players like Franck Honorat and new signing Kevin Stöger, who were among the league leaders in chances created last season, joining the squad?

Kleindienst: It’s incredibly exciting! For a striker, having such players in the team is a dream. I think it can make a significant impact once we’ve developed our understanding on the pitch. I’m looking forward to that and hoping for success.

What kind of person can Borussia fans expect to meet?

Kleindienst: I’m a laid-back person who’s easy to talk to and always up for a chat over a beer. If anyone has concerns, they can approach me anytime.

What are your plans between now and the start of pre-season?

Kleindienst: I still have a few arrangements to make, such as finding a house here quickly. I’ll plan the move around pre-season to avoid any disruptions. Like any footballer during the summer break, I’ll focus on fitness—lots of running to stay in shape.

Kleindienst had to undergo a medical before signing his contract.
