The 28-year-old, who has amassed over 120 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday with more than 40 clean sheets, including four last season in the Championship, joins Rotherham as their tenth signing of the summer. Dawson, a Sheffield native, arrives on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Sheffield Wednesday.
He will compete for the starting goalkeeper position alongside Dillon Phillips. Dawson has previous loan spells at Exeter City and Alfreton Town, and has achieved promotion twice in his career, notably with Exeter City from League Two.
Rotherham manager Steve Evans expressed his satisfaction with Dawson’s signing, highlighting his admiration for Dawson’s performances at Sheffield Wednesday and his belief in strengthening their goalkeeping department.
The club’s busy transfer activity under Evans signals their ambition for a successful season ahead, aiming to bounce back to the Championship after finishing at the bottom of the second tier last season.
