A fresh update on Danny Rohl’s contract predicament at Sheffield Wednesday ahead of his return to the UK.

Danny Rohl, Sheffield Wednesday’s manager, returns to the UK this week after a holiday following the season’s finish. Rohl has been away with his family since the 2023/24 season concluded, when Sheffield Wednesday avoided relegation and finished 20th in the Championship table.

Since then, Rohl and his players have received much accolades for their success in the second division, with the Owls now eager to extend Rohl’s stay at the club. His current contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 season, however owner Dejphon Chansiri is allegedly in talks with Rohl about extending it. The two appeared to have had positive discussions earlier this month. Furthermore, it has been discovered that Rohl has a compensation deal in place at Hillsborough worth up to £10 million in the event that another club poaches him and his S6 backroom crew.

Sunderland and Hull City have been linked with the German coach ahead of the summer.

Danny Rohl contract latest at Sheffield Wednesday

According to The Star, Rohl is expected to return to the country later this week to meet with Chansiri again.

The same source states that Rohl is ‘keen to stick around and push things to the next level’ at Sheffield Wednesday. The proposed contract that Chansiri wants Rohl to sign with Sheffield Wednesday is not specified in length. Expect it to be a long-term deal, given his incredible turnaround with the club and the fact that numerous clubs have already identified him as a prospective managerial contender ahead of the summer.
