As his departure from Sunderland draws near, Ellis Taylor has written a little note. Taylor was informed before the season ended that his contract would not be renewed, thus he is scheduled to depart Wearside when it expires this summer.
Throughout the Premier League 2 knockout stages, the 21-year-old played for Sunderland’s under-21 team. He scored a thrilling equalizer against West Ham in the quarterfinals and an unforgettable hat-trick against Reading in the semifinals.
In the final, Taylor led the Young Black Cats once more as captain, but they were unable to win the title as Tottenham defeated them 3-1. After the match, Taylor remarked on X, “It’s been a pleasure to be a part of this club for so long.” Just respect, and I appreciate everything.
Taylor progressed through the Sunderland ranks, playing for the squad at the under-9 level until making his first-team debut in 2021 after progressing through the age levels. Away from the game, he also had to cope with his father’s untimely death last year, which occurred not long after a difficult loan spell at Hartlepool.
