A young Hatters striker boosts the Yellows’ chances of survival by scoring twice as they score seven.

Josh Allen, a young striker for Luton, scored twice as AFC Sudbury defeated Long Eaton United 7-1 on Saturday to increase their chances of finishing in the Southern League Premier Central this year.

The hosts started well, fellow Town teenager Jacob Pinnington going close, before Allen opened the scoring on 33 minutes, although Jamie Hanson levelled for the visitors just before half time. In the second period, the Yellows ran riot, Pinnington a constant threat on the right hand side, as his low cross was tapped in by Malachi Napa, before the wingback’s shot deflected into the net off Simeon Jackson.

Napa had his second, Allen going on to double his own tally, latching on to a ball over the top before calmly beating the keeper on the hour mark, as Pinnington got the goal he deserved with five minutes to go, dancing round some visiting defenders and firing into the bottom corner, Callum Page on target in the closing stages to complete the rout.

AFC Sudbury now travel to Leamington this weekend, knowing a point should be enough to stay up, as they are two points ahead of Hitchin Town, but with a superior goal difference. Speaking to the club’s official Twitter page, Allen said: “I’m absolutely buzzing, the boys are on fire. I think we’ve got it in us next week to win and think we’ve got it in us to stay up as well. The fans were unbelievable, we needed them today, they brought everything and helped us out a lot.”

At Laithwaite Stadium on Saturday, Woking defeated York City 3-0 to guarantee their place in the National League. Jayden Luker got off to a great start for the team. Goalie Chris Neal denied the midfielder’s first attempt, but Tunji Akinola scored just before halftime, and Kevin Berkoe added a goal on minute 77 to complete the victory.

Dagenham & Redbridge finished their National League season with a 3-3 draw against Aldershot, with Winger Dion Pereira scoring the goal. The hosts took the lead thanks to a penalty kick from Inih Effiong, and Cian Harries tied the score in the second half. After Ryan Hill’s counterattack goal put the Shots ahead 2-1, Lorent Tolaj scored his second goal in the ninetieth minute, and Josh Barrett tied the score in stoppage time.

Jake Burger, a midfielder, came off the bench as St Albans City finished their National League South campaign at Tonbridge Angels on Saturday, drawing 2-2. Just before the hour, the young player took Romeo Akinola’s place. Dominic Hutchinson had put the visitors ahead 1-0, but Hayden Velvick quickly brought the home team back level. Saints led again thanks to Shaun Jeffers, but Jordan Hicks made sure the points were split.

Jameson Horlick was in goal as Dorchester Town saw their 12-game Southern League Premier South unbeaten run ended with a 3-1 defeat to Basingstoke on Saturday. The hosts led through Liam Ferdinand on the stroke of half time, before Ieuan Turner levelled just before the hour mark. Bradley Wilson put Basingstoke back ahead moments later, with Paul Hodges netting in stoppage time to seal the points.

Attacker Millar Matthews-Lewis started as Farnborough ended their National League South campaign with a 2-1 win at Weymouth on Saturday. The Yellows fell behind, Dan Roberts scoring on 34 minutes although Ricky Holmes levelled instantly. Matthews-Lewis was then replaced at the break, Boro going down to 10 men straight away when Edon Pruti was sent off, only for Olly Pendlebury to net the winner with 15 to go.
