Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts and Rangers stars picked in PFA team of year – but Hibs miss out

The PFA Scotland Premiership team of the year has been announced, featuring representation from Aberdeen, Celtic, Dundee, Hearts, Motherwell, and Rangers.

The PFA released the XI ahead of Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic at Hampden on Saturday morning, after the players voted. There are four Celtic players, three Rangers players, and one each from Aberdeen, Dundee, Hearts, and Motherwell.

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has been the standout between the posts, while Rangers’ goalscoring captain James Tavernier and Dundee’s promising Liverpool loanee Owen Beck are paired at right and left back, respectively. The back four is made up of Celtic centre backs Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales.

Motherwell's Theo Bair is part of three-man strike-force that does not include any Old Firm players.

Celtic’s Matt O’Riley and Callum McGregor play in midfield alongside Rangers’ John Lundstram, although there are no Old Firm attackers in the three-man strike line. Lawrence Shankland, the league’s top scorer for Hearts, has been named alongside Motherwell’s Theo Bair and Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski in the squad.
