Fiji Bati winger Maika Sivo is glad he’ll team up once again with his former Paramatta Eels coach, Brad Arthur at the Leeds Rhinos.
Sivo signed a three-year deal with the Rhinos before the Bati played the Cook Islands on the weekend.
Arthur contacted the big Fijian if he was interested in coming over to the Super League after the NRL star was granted an early release from his contract with the Eels
The Momi villager from Nadroga says he never hesitated because Arthur helped shape his career and guided him at Paramatta.
One of the reasons Sivo decided to move to England is that Arthur is also close to his family.
The 31-year-old has been an integral part of the Eels since joining in 2019 when he finished as the top try scorer in the NRL.
Over his 115 NRL games with the Eels, he has brought excitement and power, and become a fan favorite with the Blue and Gold Army.
The winger scored two tries for the Bati in their 56-6 win over the Cook Islands on the weekend.
Meanwhile, the Bati will have to wait for the Cook Islands and PNG Kumuls result on Sunday to see whether they’ll play in the Pacific Championship promotion-relegation.
Also this weekend, the Fiji Bulikula meet Fetu Samoa in Auckland for a place at the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.
