The supporters of Sheffield Wednesday are excited to watch what happens with manager Danny Rohl in the next summer. In light of Sheffield Wednesday’s incredible 20th place result in the 2023–24 Championship, Danny Rohl’s future with the team is currently a heated topic.

There are rumors that Dejphon Chansiri, the owner of Sheffield Wednesday, is secretly negotiating a new contract for Rohl. It follows fruitful discussions between the two after the season ended, with Rohl apparently scheduled to speak with Chansiri again later this week. Rohl is also interested in the Championship, since Hull City and Sunderland were linked in the summer.

On other targets, both teams seem to be more focused. The supporters of Sheffield Wednesday, however, will continue to beg Rohl to sign a contract in S6, since his present one is scheduled to expire in the summer.

Alan Biggs verdict on Danny Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday

With his incredible turnaround at Sheffield Wednesday, Rohl is one of the most sought-after players in the Championship, and for good reason.

The Owls became the first team in Championship history to overcome the drop after going winless in their first 13 games of the season, defeating Sunderland 2-0 on the last day of play. Biggs also made the following statement regarding X regarding Rohl’s potential stay this summer: “I’d be a bit surprised if not.” After holding coaching positions with Red Bull Leipzig, Southampton, Bayern Munich, and the German national team, Rohl took on his first managing position with Sheffield Wednesday. As of right now, he has 16 wins from 38 games and 16 loses on Wednesdays.

Sheffield Wednesday facing one key enemy right now

When it comes to Rohl, Wednesday faces one persistent threat regardless of the teams who express interest in him or what happens to him in the future: time. The longer it goes without Rohl signing a deal, the greater the chance that Sheffield Wednesday will lose him for nothing come summertime. The Owls will demand payment if Rohl’s future is not in Sheffield. There are rumors of a £10 million compensation plan in place for Rohl and his backroom crew in S6, and £5 million for Rohl alone.

Therefore, getting Rohl a new contract is crucial for Sheffield Wednesday—possibly even more important than having Rohl around. The Owls must attempt to fully mitigate the risk of losing him for nothing in a year and provide themselves with some financial stability over his future. But thus far, everything appears to be going well; Rohl and Chansiri are obviously in communication, and there are no indications that those conversations will encounter any obstacles.
