Andy Murray has been enjoying his retirement by immersing himself in the Olympic spirit in Paris, where he recently wrapped up his professional tennis career. After he and Dan Evans were defeated in the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles, Murray transitioned from competitor to spectator, taking in some of the most thrilling events the Games had to offer.
At 37, Murray was spotted watching the mixed 4x100m medley relay final, where Team GB’s Kathleen Dawson, James Wilby, Anna Hopkin, and Duncan Scott faced a tough field, with Team USA setting a new world record. He also attended the gymnastics events, witnessing the legendary Simone Biles win her 10th Olympic medal and seventh gold in the vault final.
Murray, however, briefly became the center of attention when TV cameras caught him indulging in doughnuts while seated next to tennis legend Billie Jean King. Despite his previous commitment to maintaining a strict diet post-retirement, the former Wimbledon champion couldn’t resist the temptation of a sweet treat. His mother, Judy Murray, even humorously expressed her envy on social media, praising the moment captured between her son and King during the Paris Olympics.
Reflecting on his diet, Murray admitted that he gained weight during COVID-19 when he wasn’t training as much and indulged in more junk food, which he didn’t enjoy. He has a particular fondness for ice cream and biscuits, especially Choco Leibniz. But, as seen in Paris, he allowed himself to indulge while enjoying the Olympic atmosphere.
