Arnaut Danjuma could solve Sean Dyche dilemma v Chelsea amid official Everton

The Netherlands international has missed the past nine matches with an ankle injury, with the Toffees winning just one of those fixtures. The 27-year-old hadn’t exactly been first choice since joining the Blues on loan from Villarreal last summer, but Dyche would like to have more attacking options at his disposal.

That is precisely what he could have heading into the game at Stamford Bridge after the winger returned to action for the U-21s team on Friday (12 April).Everton confirmed on their website that he played the full 90 minutes against Blackburn Rovers, but he couldn’t help his side from falling to a 3-2 defeat in the Premier League 2 game.It will come as a huge bonus for Dyche to see Danjuma back in action after he revealed in his pre-match press conference on Thursday (11 April) that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been suffering from a knock, while Lewis Dobbin and Dele Alli remain sidelined for the trip to West London.“James Garner and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have had knocks but should be fine by Monday,” said Dyche. “Amadou Onana is back. All is good with Gueye and his family. He has been training well this week.“Arnaut Danjuma has been training. He’s got a bounce game tomorrow and he should at least be in the thoughts for Monday’s squad.”Join the Goodison News WhatsApp channel to get all our exclusives and the breaking transfer news FIRST.Although it doesn’t sound as though Calvert-Lewin’s knock is too bad, it would pose the Toffees boss with a dilemma if the forward wasn’t available. With attacking options relatively limited, Danjuma could potentially help fill that void after appearing to come through the U-21s game unscathed. He’s clearly already in Dyche’s thoughts ahead of Monday’s game after he mentioned the Dutchman in his press conference.Despite the winger not having the best loan spell so far, having scored just two goals in 20 appearances, he could still have an important role to play in helping the Blues avoid relegation this season. He will need to up his contribution to the side on his return, though, after recording just a 4 per cent shot conversion and missing five big chances before his injury [SofaScore]The attacker also recorded just a 72 per cent pass accuracy, made one key pass and was successful with only 42 per cent of his attempted dribbles. Those are stats that you simply wouldn’t have associated with Danjuma during his previous exploits with Villarreal, but he will know the next few weeks could prove to be a pivotal point in his career. If he wants to continue playing at the highest level, he simply must grab whatever opportunities come his way with both hands.
