As the 777 Partners deadline approaches, chances of a John Textor Everton takeover develop.

The Telegraph reports that a deal for John Textor to take over Everton this summer is viewed as “impossible.” After missing their last deadline of May 31 to finalize the agreement, which 777 Partners and Farhad Moshiri had agreed to back in September, the Toffees will now consider other funding possibilities.

Although Textor has openly declared his intention to purchase the team [The Athletic, May 24], any transaction this summer will be “impossible” because he must first sell his 45% ownership in Crystal Palace.

More bad news for Everton fans as takeover saga continues

The majority of fans have long since realized that, given all of their financial difficulties, the agreement 777 Partners had with Moshiri was very unlikely to be fulfilled. However, Moshiri was bound by the terms of the pact to keep quiet about a takeover until the deal’s deadline was met.

He can now talk to anybody he wants. Textor has been transparent about his intentions, but it seems like he may have jumped the gun in this particular situation and gotten carried away.

Everton will have to wait for their savior since under Premier League regulations, he cannot own another Premier League team until he has sold his interest in Crystal Palace. Though it’s hoped that other interested stakeholders may step forward in the upcoming weeks to make things happen, Textor won’t be the new Everton owner this summer.
