He arrives at Villa on a free transfer, having chosen not to sign a professional contract with Sunderland last summer. Over the past year, he’s drawn interest from numerous clubs across England and Scotland.

Clubs like Arsenal, Leeds United, Brighton, and Rangers all tried to secure his signature, but Villa ultimately succeeded in signing the England youth international.

Cotcher has netted 12 goals in the U18 Premier League over the past two seasons and has signed a contract with Villa that runs until 2027.

Villa’s academy director, Mark Harrison, said: “We’re thrilled to have Mason join us, especially given the interest from other clubs. He has represented England at youth level and is a forward with strong finishing and creative abilities. We’re excited to see his progress over the coming seasons.”
