In the last minute of their Digicel Fiji Premier League match at Subrail Park, Sekove Naivakananumi scored a goal to tie the score at three points all for the Extra Labasa football team.
Etonia Dogalau gave the visitors the lead in the sixth minute, while Christopher Wasasala’s penalty kick in the thirteenth minute gave the Babasiga Lions an equalizer.
Ba’s lead was increased to 2-1 in the 52nd minute when Dogalau scored his second goal of the game.
The Labasa supporters were ecstatic when Netani Suluka equalized for the Lions, but they were again silenced when Penisoni Tirau scored in the 57th minute to increase Ba’s lead to 3-2.
When Naivakananumi scored in the final moments, the home crowd erupted.
The Ba player Suliano Tawanakoro received a red card for his on-field antics after receiving two yellow cards, and a Ba official was also given a yellow card for attempting to tamper with the referee’s decisions. The encounter was not without controversy.
Tonight at 7 p.m., Extra Rewa and Nadi will play another DFPL encounter at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Mirchi FM will be providing live commentary during the match.
