Back After Christmas” | West Ham Facing Big Kudus Ban

I told my Hammers Chat partner in crime, Geo, earlier this morning that it was kind of a slow news day, and West Ham responded, “Hold my beer.” For some reason, West Ham can’t stay out of the spotlight for very long, and today has shown it once more with some managerial “exclusives” and reports of Mohammed Kudus’ extended ban.

I must admit that I didn’t give the early rumors that Kudus might not be available until after Christmas much thought. Calling the incident “violent conduct” seems a touch excessive, even though he most likely earned a red card for losing his head against Tottenham.

Although, to be honest, the contact wouldn’t knock a budgie off its perch (not that I’ve tried, btw), it was more of a case of pushing and a tantrum from a disgruntled player, accentuated by Tottenham players hitting the ground as if they’d been flattened by a hurricane. But I’ve had to pay attention after learning that Kudus has been accused of inappropriate behavior by the FA. After the match, former Premier League referee Mike Dean stated that Kudus might “get done twice” for his role in the handbag altercation in North London, which might result in a nine-game suspension.

This would, in fact, prevent the winger from being selected until the match against Southampton on Boxing Day, which would make the prior forecasts seem much less dramatic. He will only be out for the next three games against Manchester United, Forest, and Everton, if common sense holds. Due to another international break, Kudus wouldn’t return to West Ham until November 25th against Newcastle, even in that scenario.
