Batley Bulldogs head of medical ‘takes the leap’ to set up own sports rehabilitation business

In order to help and treat individuals in North Kirklees and beyond, the head of medical at Batley Bulldogs has “taken the leap” and opened her own sports rehabilitation company.

Ally Briggs, who has been overseeing the Bulldogs’ physical health since 2016, founded Return to You.

However, the 28-year-old, who also works for the NHS with Connect Health, has always dreamed of working as a physiotherapist alone.

She told the Reporter Series, “I’ve always wanted to be there.” Finding the proper locations and cash flow has been the only challenge. I’ve taken the first step and intend to build it from there, eventually transforming it into my own clinical space—ideally in a gym.

Return to You has been established by Ally Briggs, who has been looking after the Bulldogs’ physical well-being since 2016.

“You must begin somewhere. Because it’s a scary thing to undertake, I had been putting it off for a time. However, I’ve made the decision to jump in now, use the off-season to focus on this venture, and watch how it develops from there.

“I enjoy working for Connect Health and the Batley Bulldogs.” However, I believe it’s really challenging to provide patients with the time and consistency they require with all the demands placed on the NHS.

We are under a lot of pressure to see individuals quickly. I believe that the NHS is frequently criticised, especially from the perspective of physiotherapists. People are instructed to leave after completing a number of exercises on a sheet.

“I would much prefer provide individualised assistance to folks. Since there is no one-size-fits-all solution, I hope to create something in the same field that is more individualised.

“People occasionally require a little bit more assistance and input than the NHS can provide.”

In addition to having a current office at the Bulldogs’ Fox’s Biscuits Stadium in Leeds, the University of Bradford graduate may go to clients in Batley, Dewsbury, Cleckheaton, and other parts of North Kirklees and beyond.

“It will depend on the person’s needs and me consulting with them to determine what will work best for them,” she stated. Whether it’s at the club, their residence, on the phone, or in person.

Over the years, I have collaborated with a wide range of individuals.individuals who have undergone knee, hip, or stroke replacements, as well as athletic procedures.

It’s available to everyone and isn’t limited to people with certain injuries. If necessary, I can also recommend additional therapists to clients.

Ally went on to thank the Bulldogs for helping her with her new endeavour:

“As always, the club has been outstanding. From the players and personnel to the management and Kevin (Nicholas, chairman). I can’t criticise their assistance.

“I began as a student eight years ago, and I haven’t really left. I keep making jokes about being two years away from my own testimony!

“It’s like home away from home.”

“Ally is very good and organised and does a lot more than physiotherapy,” Batley head coach Mark Moxon told the Reporter Series. She is a mental health first aider in addition to taking care of the boys.

“All the guys regard her as a good physiotherapist and as a great club woman. And that’s crucial because they won’t go visit the physiotherapist if they don’t respect them.
