Mark Wilson believes that Connor Goldson has reached the end of his cycle at Rangers, amid links to clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on 25 April, Wilson believes that even if it’s an offer of £2million, Gers would be willing to accept it.
Al-Ettifaq, who are managed by Steven Gerrard, have the 31-year-old on their transfer shortlist for the summer, per the Daily Record.
Wilson, a BBC pundit, said at 14:00: “I think with Connor Goldson, if Rangers get any sort of concrete offer, maybe a couple of million, they’ll be wise to take it. As much as he’s a good player and has shown at points this season, I think it’s the end of the cycle for him. I think a lot of people can see it coming.”
Rangers must consider Connor Goldson sale at the right price
Most Rangers fans won’t be overly concerned about Goldson’s potential departure, as they recognise that his time might be coming to an end.
This sentiment is driven by a variety of factors, including Goldson’s age, recent performances, and the opportunity to invest in fresh talent.
Now 31, the Englishman has had a significant tenure at Ibrox, contributing to the club’s success in the past.
However, his recent performances have not been consistent, and his age raises concerns about his ability to maintain the high level of performance expected by fans and management.
This situation has led many to believe that it’s time for the club to move on and invest in a younger defender who can potentially offer more in terms of long-term value and performance.
Furthermore, the potential financial gain from selling Goldson to a club in Saudi Arabia could be a significant incentive for the club.
The money received from the transfer could be used to bolster the squad with a younger, more promising defender.
In other Rangers news, a “horrible” player is now left with just a handful of games to save his career at Ibrox amid recent criticism.
