Before the summer transfer, a €7 million target sends a farewell message to Leicester City.

It appears that Gabriel Pereira wrote his Gil Vicente teammates a parting note. The 24-year-old was dismissed from the game, which appears to be his last for the Portuguese team, seven minutes into extra time following a 1-0 loss to Estrela Amadora. Both teams are still in the Primeira Liga as a consequence of the season finale. Gil Vicente’s center back may or may not stay with the team, though, given rumors that he is interested in joining Leicester City. According to Tutto Mercato Web, an Italian tabloid, Pereira is a top target for the Foxes, who allegedly attempted to entice him to the King Power in January but were unsuccessful.

Gil Vicente is rumored to be more open to negotiations and to be wanted for €7 million. The Brazilian has two years remaining on his Vilafranquense deal.

Unfortunately for City, Benfica, Braga, Lyon, and Udinese are all reportedly interested in Pereira. However, it now appears that Pereira may be gearing up for a transfer.

He posted a message on social media to his current club that seemed like a farewell. He wrote, “End of the season!!! Just to thank God for everything he has been doing in my life, for having kept me and enabled me to complete another era. It was a great pleasure to be part of this group. I will miss every moment, every training, every game, every laugh. These were amazing moments. Thank you for everything FAMILY.”

Last season, Pereira played 30 league games and scored four goals for Gil Vicente, all while playing in central defense. Born in Brazil, he has been playing in Portugal since 2021.
