The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua players’ improved attitude was essential to their 28-19 victory over the Queensland Reds in Suva yesterday. Drua coach Mick Byrne believes the players checked all the appropriate boxes to defeat a good Reds team and demonstrate that they are still in contention for a quarterfinal position.
Byrne is particularly pleased with the team’s defensive efforts, which included running off their lines, which had not been the case in prior games.
“We continued getting off the line and making strong tackles, guided by the captain. We got two or three forced turnovers, which is extremely fantastic, and I think that is a tribute to the players on the defensive parts of their game.
