Birmingham City relegation rival makes ‘not fit’ claim in boost to Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle

Head coach Andre Breitenreiter of Huddersfield Town has said that he is unsure about starting a few players before their crucial match against Birmingham City.

The Terriers used the same starting lineup against Swansea City as they did in their 1-1 draw with Bristol City the week before. Huddersfield, who could consider themselves unlucky to be playing the Robins, lost 4-0 to Swansea over the weekend due to a controversial penalty call.

All of the goals came in the last quarter of the game. On the 73rd, Jamie Lowe broke the scoreless draw, and then Ronald, Jerry Yates, and Liam Walsh handed the West Yorkshire team a crushing defeat. They find themselves in a risky situation ahead of their Saturday matchup with Birmingham City as a result of this outcome. They are three points outside of safety, two points behind Blues, and in second place from the bottom.

When asked about his team selection by BBC Radio Leeds, Breitenreiter said, “There was no reason to change the lineup, because the lineup they played really, really well, and we had a tremendous win in Bristol.”

“I have to admit that maybe the fans are calling for certain players, but I see the players all week, and many of them are not fit. It was a bad choice that we lost two points, but there was no justification (to change the team).”

“I want to always have the best players on the field, and this is usually a result of the training sessions,” the player stated. “They are not in every training session. This is the line-up’s constant cause. I can see why they would want more seasoned players, but these individuals also need to demonstrate during practice that they are ready to start.

This Saturday, April 27, Birmingham City plays at John Smith’s Stadium in a game that has a lot of baring on battle to avoid the drop. Gary Rowett’s team would finish ahead of Huddersfield with a rare away victory, but Sheffield Wednesday would need to lose to West Brom at home in order to escape the relegation zone.

Regarding the players Rowett has at his disposal, the list of injuries is growing considerably less. Oliver Burke and Marc Roberts were both included in the team for the weekend’s goalless draw against Rotherham United. Roberts was an unutilized substitution, and Burke started and played for 45 minutes before Koji Miyoshi took his place.

Due to a knee issue that he had prior to Rowett being named as the temporary manager, Lukas Jutkiewicz is still out. The only player out for an extended period of time is Alfie Chang, who injured his knee in August.
