This weekend, Birmingham City hopes to go back to winning ways, but they will have a difficult road game against Lincoln City.

Following their relegation from the Championship the previous season, Birmingham City has swiftly emerged as the early favourite to win the League One championship this year.

With Jay Stansfield’s big-money signing the statement deal, the Blues went on a summer spending binge that broke all previous records.

With seven consecutive victories and an undefeated record in their first eight games, Chris Davies’ team is off to a great start. But last time out, they lost to Charlton Athletic away from home for the first time since slipping to the third division.

Although the Imps are playing well, they will try to make up for it this weekend against Lincoln City. In five league games, Michael Skubala’s team is undefeated and in fifth place.

Signing of club records Due to an issue he picked up with England U21, Jay Stansfield appears to be out of the trip to Lincoln City. Before Saturday’s match, Birmingham City manager Chris Davies told Birmingham Live:

He is unlikely to play this weekend since he received a knock with the England U21s.

“We’ll see how he does day by day, but he probably won’t play this weekend because it’s something he picked up while on international duty.”

Krystian Bielik, the team captain, will also miss the match due to an ankle injury he sustained against Charlton, his old team.

Despite suffering a knock during the Bristol Street Motors Trophy match against Shrewsbury Town, Tomoki Iwata is fit. Luke Harris and Ethan Laird, long-time absentees, are making progress but won’t be ready for Lincoln.

Emil Hansson replaces standout player Standfield as the last alteration. Instead, Alfie May will lead the line. Lyon Dykes may start, but Hansson is probably going to enter since Davies wants the front four to remain fluid.
