Although Leeds’ playoff campaign ended with sadness due to a loss to Southampton in the championship game, the Championship team did learn several valuable lessons from the campaign, the most significant of which was Gray’s emergency.
Throughout the 2023–24 season, the 18-year-old established himself in Daniel Farke’s starting lineup and put on strong performances, displaying maturity above his years. According to the report, Tottenham has thought of offering Oliver Skipp in part return for Gray, but a “mammoth proposal” would need to be made in order to persuade Leeds to let go of their academy graduate. Spurs Online Views Leeds would probably find it tough to reject any offer in the £30–£35 million bracket for Gray given their current financial position. It’s unclear, though, if Tottenham would be willing to spend that much for the young player following just one strong Championship season.
The England under-21 international did draw attention last season despite just being 18 years old, but a lot of teams, including Southampton, will probably be interested in signing him and be able to offer him regular first-team play. Although the team should constantly keep an eye out for promising players, they must sign players this summer who can significantly upgrade the starting lineup.
