Justin Jefferson skips day one of Vikings OTAs amid standoff in contract talks as the wideout enters the last year of his rookie deal
Speaking of a contract extension, Justin Jefferson, the standout wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, skipped the team’s organised team activities.
During 10 days in the preseason, teams can choose to participate in optional exercises and meetings known as organised team activities, or OTAs.
However, sources inside the Vikings organisation tell ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the wideout failed to show up to the team’s facility today.
Although the two parties put off talks throughout the draft, Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah stated at last month’s NFL Draft that the team and Jefferson were moving forward with an agreement.
The two parties were ‘unbelievably close’ to reaching an agreement last season, according to Adofo-Mensah, but they decided to halt talks at the beginning of the 2023 regular season.

It’s crucial to remember that, despite the fact that missing all of the Vikings’ optional practices the previous season, Jefferson did not show up for the team’s required minicamp.
Prior to suffering a hamstring injury that ended his season in Week 5, Jefferson was leading the NFL in receiving yards.
He would return in Week 15, concluding the season with 1,074 total yards through 68 catches.
After leading the league in catches and receiving yards in 2022, Jefferson was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year.
The wide receiver is scheduled to play this season on his rookie contract’s fifth-year option, with a guaranteed salary of $19.743 million.
