Blackburn Rovers are reportedly interested in making a move for Cesena attacker Augustus Kargbo in the January transfer window, according to Alan Nixon on his Patreon page. With the summer transfer window now closed, Blackburn will need to wait until winter to pursue new signings, unless they consider free agents before then.
Augustus Kargbo, 25, had a strong season with Cesena, making 33 appearances and contributing 10 goals and 11 assists, which helped the team secure promotion to Serie B. He is contracted with Cesena until June 2026, so his current club is not under immediate pressure to sell.
According to Alan Nixon on his Patreon page, Blackburn Rovers are considering a move for Kargbo in January as they aim to strengthen their attacking options following a promising start to the season under former Birmingham City boss John Eustace. Blackburn might need to invest around £1 million to secure his services.
Kargbo could provide a fresh attacking option for Blackburn, and with his solid performance in Serie C, there is potential for him to improve further in the future.
Augustus Kargbo, the Sierra Leone international, began his career at Campobasso in Serie D before moving to Crotone in 2018. During his five years at Crotone, he scored six goals in 67 appearances and gained experience through loan spells at Roccella and Reggiana.
Cesena acquired him a year ago, and he has since become a key player, making him a sought-after asset. Blackburn Rovers are eyeing him as they look to bolster their squad.
As for Blackburn, they are in a positive mood going into the international break. They drew 1-1 against Burnley at Turf Moor, with summer signing Andi Weimann scoring. They currently sit 5th in the table with two wins and two draws from their first four games. Blackburn will return to action next weekend with a home fixture against Bristol City, aiming to maintain their strong start.
