Iron Aid will be part of our 125th anniversary launch event, with former manager Brian Laws leading the Fans’ XI!

With great pleasure, Scunthorpe United announces that on Sunday, July 28th, the club will formally kick off its 125th anniversary season with an Open Day that will include a game played on the Attis Arena field.

There are a lot of events to plan and publicise for the Open Day itself, so please get in contact if you think you could help. We have openings in the West Stand parking lot for food establishments, stalls, rides, festivals, and much more.

2024’s Iron Aid

For United’s ‘Iron Aid’ legends match, a number of former professional players will return to the pitch, offering Scunthorpe supporters a chance to play against them.

Buy raffle tickets for the event to increase your chances of being on the supporters team. The cost is only £10 per visit, and your chances of joining the squad increase with the number of tickets you purchase.

Do you want to ensure your spot on the team but not want to risk your chances in the raffle? There are five spots available at a cost of £1,000 each.

We also have a very limited spot available on the ex-pros team, where someone may join the team for £2,500.

On the morning of the game, all players will receive breakfast at the Attis Arena. This will be followed by a brief training session with your special guest manager, who will be revealed. After that, you’ll get a little tactics practice to get ready for your big game.

Even if you’re not interested in playing, why not watch some former greats take on some fans? Perhaps you wish to encourage (or chastise) a family member or acquaintance who is participating from the sidelines. The game will cost £5 per participant, with under-16s admitted free of charge. Pre-season ticket sales for these events will take place.

The football team will receive all proceeds from the Iron Aid match and the Open Day as an additional source of funding to support the team’s transition to sustainability.

Participants

We’ll start confirming our lineup of former professional athletes on social media as soon as it’s confirmed.

Please get in contact if you are a former Iron football player who is reading this and would like to get involved!
