Celtic are still pursuing the signing of Liverpool left-back Owen Beck. According to a report from the Sunday Mail on August 18th, the Hoops have been in talks to bring the 22-year-old Welsh defender to the club as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his squad.

Beck is a key target for Rodgers this summer, and Celtic could make a move for him soon. The Bhoys attempted to sign Beck in the January transfer window, but the move was blocked by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who recalled Beck from his loan spell at Dundee due to a defensive injury crisis. After making an appearance for Liverpool, Beck was ineligible to play for another club that season and subsequently returned to Dundee on loan.

Celtic have the option to sign Beck either permanently or on loan, with a permanent transfer likely costing around £3 million. However, they face competition from English Championship clubs Middlesbrough and Leeds United, who are also interested in the young defender. Liverpool are open to selling Beck this summer, which could work in Celtic’s favor.

Celtic have recently added Adam Idah from Norwich City to their squad, but Rodgers is still looking to make a few more signings. There has been interest from clubs like Atalanta in signing Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley, though they have not met Celtic’s asking price, and with the transfer window closing soon, it’s unlikely O’Riley will be sold.

In addition to Beck, Celtic are also targeting Ajax defender Owen Wijndal and Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels. The club is still looking to bring in another winger, a left-sided centre-half, and a striker before the transfer window closes.
