BREAKING NEWS: Chesterfield transfers round-up

The League Two season starts next month and clubs are starting to fine-tune their squads ahead of the big kick-off.

Chesterfield have brought in five new faces themselves, but let’s take a look at who else has been active in the transfer market recently…

PORT VALE

Darren Moore’s men have made a big statement of intent with the signing of former Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City midfielder George Byers on a three-year deal. The 28-year-old played an influential role in the Owls, then managed by Moore, winning promotion from League One a year ago

MARK DUNN

Tom Carroll, 32, a former player for Tottenham, Swansea, and QPR, has reportedly signed a deal after declining an Exeter City offer.

HARROGATE TOWN

For an undisclosed sum, the Sulphurites have swooped to sign 23-year-old defender Zico Asare from Maidenhead United. The right-back was an England youth player in addition to beginning his career at Fulham.

Alexandra Krewe

After leaving Newport County, seasoned striker Omar Bogle, 31, signed a contract with the play-off winners from the previous season.

UNITED CARLISLE

Archie Davies, a defender for Dundalk in the League of Ireland, has joined the Cumbrians. Before relocating to Brighton, the 25-year-old went through the Crystal Palace system. In addition, he has represented Aldershot Town and Crawley Town.

NATTS COUNTY

Star striker Macaulay Langstaff was sold by the Magpies to Millwall of the Championship for an alleged £750,000. After making 97 appearances and scoring 71 goals, the 27-year-old is leaving.

Town of Grimsby

The Mariners have added two new players: 24-year-old Icelandic midfielder Jason Dadi Svanthorsson and 24-year-old former Port Vale defender Lewis Cass.
