BREAKING NEWS: Everton star slaps fans in the face with Goodison Park no show, exit now inevitable

DOMINIC KING: Everton fans have been pushed to breaking point and off the pitch | Daily Mail Online

When his contract expires this summer, Dele Alli is almost destined to depart Everton, but without even setting foot on the pitch, he has let fans down once more.

Due to injuries and a loan at Besiktas, the former England international has not featured at all for the club in either of the last two seasons, therefore his two and a half years on Merseyside are coming to an end.

However, supporters have shown sympathy for the offensive midfield player, who has acknowledged that he struggled with mental health problems during that time and fought overcome a sleeping pill addiction.

Though there’s no denying that his tenure at the team has been a complete disaster, the 28-year-old has once again infuriated supporters for something he didn’t do.

The lack of Dele Alli at Goodison is a slap in the face to the fans.

On Saturday, May 11, Everton defeated Sheffield United 1-0 to round up their penultimate Goodison Park campaign, achieving four straight victories and a clean sheet in the process.

This implies that, in what should be considered a very successful season for the Toffees, they would be sitting in 11th position in the table, 22 points clear of relegation, if they hadn’t received their eight-point deductions this season.

After the final whistle, the team performed the customary lap of honour while the supporters applauded. However, Dele’s noticeable absence was clearly observed by the fans.

It was a slap in the face for him to not turn up at least, given all the support the club gave him when he was there, both with his injuries and his personal issues, and how the supporters respected his privacy.

It is said that he has been collecting £100k per week without even playing a minute of football, so at the end of yet another difficult season, the least he could do is give the club some thanks.

It’s highly likely that his time at the club is over.Given Everton’s financial predicament, he won’t be given a new contract, and Sean Dyche was never going to be able to fit him into his team.

It’s time for supporters to wash their hands of Dele, who has essentially distanced himself from the team before it was necessary.
