During Cherries’ victory, striker hailed teammate as a ‘fighter’.
Town manager Rob Edwards has branded centre half Teden Mengi as future captain material after he played a starring role against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.
The 21-year-old joined Luton in August after leaving Manchester United, where he had spent over a decade. Since arriving in Bedfordshire, the centre half has been in excellent form, appearing in 25 top-flight games and averaging 4.6 clearances per game, 1.9 interceptions, 1.8 tackles, and 0.9 blocks, while also earning his maiden England U21s cap.
Mengi started against the Cherries again on Saturday, and it appeared that his afternoon would be cut short twice in the first period, as he fell down holding his knee and needed treatment on both occasions. Following some medical attention, the defender was able to shake off the knocks and resume his efforts to keep the visiting attackers at bay for the full 90 minutes, bursting forward when possible as Town limited the Cherries attacker to long-range shots in their 2-1 victory.
