Breaking News: How Kaminski, Dack and more have fared 12 months on from leaving Rovers

Here’s an update on the former Blackburn Rovers players who left Ewood Park last summer and how they’re faring a year later:

Thomas Kaminski
Now back in the Championship with Luton Town after their relegation, Kaminski has made four appearances this season. However, he was sent off in a goalless draw against Portsmouth, causing him to miss Luton’s 1-0 defeat to Preston North End. The Hatters have had a tough start, losing three of their first four matches. Kaminski was also linked with a summer move to Leicester City, and Blackburn Rovers would reportedly receive 10% of the profit if the 31-year-old moves from Luton.

Ben Brereton Diaz
After struggling to secure regular playing time at Villarreal, the Chilean striker returned to England in January on loan to Sheffield United, scoring six goals in 16 games. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to save the Blades from finishing bottom of the Premier League. This summer, Brereton Diaz made a permanent switch to Southampton, aiming to help the Saints build on their play-off final win over Leeds. He has made three appearances so far, but Southampton are still looking for their first points of the season. On the opening day, Brereton Diaz was involved in an altercation with Newcastle’s Fabian Schar, leading to Schar’s red card. Former Rovers striker Alan Shearer, now a pundit, commented on the incident, criticizing Brereton Diaz for his reaction: “It’s embarrassing the way he reacts like that.”

Bradley Dack

Bradley Dack is back at Gillingham after a season at Sunderland

Here’s an update on more former Blackburn Rovers players and how they’ve been doing since leaving the club:

Bradley Dack
After being released by Sunderland, where he scored just once in 17 matches, Dack has returned to Gillingham, his club before joining Rovers in 2017. He has made one appearance this season in a 2-1 defeat against Peterborough in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy. Though initially named in the squad to face Doncaster, Dack withdrew before kickoff, with Joe Gbode taking his place. Gillingham have had a solid start to their League Two campaign, collecting 10 points from their first five games.

Ash Phillips
Phillips spent the second half of last season on loan at Plymouth, helping the Pilgrims narrowly avoid relegation. This season, he’s on loan at Stoke City as they aim to improve under manager Steven Schumacher. Phillips made his Stoke debut in their 5-0 Carabao Cup win over Middlesbrough and also played in the 1-0 league victory against his former club, Plymouth. Stoke currently sit 11th in the table, with two wins and two losses from their first four matches.

Tayo Edun
Now at Charlton Athletic in League One, Edun made 33 appearances last season. This term, he’s played just once so far, coming off the bench in a 1-0 Carabao Cup loss to Birmingham. Charlton have had a good start to the season, sitting fifth in League One with 10 points from five games under manager Nathan Jones, who took over in February.

Daniel Ayala

Daniel Ayala is currently without a club

Here’s a look at how some other former Blackburn Rovers players are getting on after their departures:

Daniel Ayala
The experienced centre-back joined Rotherham United last season after leaving Rovers but only made seven appearances before being sidelined by a long-term injury. His last two games for the Millers ended with red cards, against Swansea and Plymouth. Ayala left Rotherham by mutual consent in March and has yet to find a new club.

Dan Butterworth
The 24-year-old forward spent last season at Carlisle United, scoring four goals in 33 appearances, though the club was relegated from League One. In the final stages of the summer transfer window, Butterworth signed a two-year deal with Swindon Town. He has already made three appearances for the Robins, notably scoring a dramatic 98th-minute equaliser against Barrow last weekend.

James Brown
After signing for Ross County in the Scottish Premiership last summer, Brown made 40 appearances in his debut season, scoring twice. This term, the Irish defender has already featured nine times and found the net in a 3-0 League Cup win against Stirling. However, Ross County has had a slow start to the league campaign, sitting 10th with just two points from their first four games.
