Journalist Darren Witcoop has provided a notable update on Celtic’s pursuit of Adam Idah during the summer transfer window.
**Latest on Adam Idah to Celtic**
The £5,000-a-week striker had a successful loan spell at Parkhead in the latter half of last season, joining in January and being tasked with bolstering Brendan Rodgers’ squad for the Scottish Premiership title race.
Despite injuries limiting his playing time, Idah made a significant impact at Celtic, playing a crucial role in the team’s domestic double success. The 23-year-old netted eight goals in just 15 league matches, only starting in five of them, and secured his place in Celtic’s history by scoring a last-minute winner against Rangers in the Scottish Cup final.
Since then, the Republic of Ireland international has returned to Norwich City, but his future at Carrow Road remains uncertain, with speculation about a permanent move to Celtic and even reports of him missing a flight for the Canaries’ pre-season trip to Austria.
However, the situation has also seemed to cool off at times, with new Norwich manager Johannes Hoff Thorup viewing Idah as a key player: “He’s been part of the group for a little more than a week now. I’ve had a few sessions with the team, and it’s important for us to get him going.
“It’s crucial for him to get back into the swing of things and start getting some minutes. I think we could see what he brings to the team. So it’s great to have him back on the pitch, and I believe he will be a valuable asset for us.”
Now, taking toX, Witcoop claims thatAdam Idah is “heading” to Celtic, with the striker looking set to complete a permanent move to Parkhead.
Idah is the perfect signing for Celtic
Celtic supporters are likely to welcome this news with enthusiasm, given how well Idah performed during his initial stint, leading the attack with confidence and finishing decisively in crucial moments, particularly at Hampden Park against Rangers.
There’s also hope that the Irishman will be more consistently available in his second spell with the Hoops, staying fit and becoming an even more dependable goal-scorer.
Rodgers has praised Idah as “incredible,” and will no doubt be thrilled to bring him back. It’s difficult to find many drawbacks to Celtic signing him on a permanent basis this time around.
