Saints Women have announced the signing of midfielder Aimee Palmer, making her the team’s sixth addition for the upcoming 2024/25 season. Palmer, a two-time Barclays Women’s Championship winner, brings significant experience from the top two divisions.
Palmer began her career at Bristol City, debuting in 2017 during the WSL Spring Series as a teenager. She made 18 appearances before moving to the newly-formed Manchester United in 2018, where she played 15 games during their 2018/19 title-winning season.
After a loan spell at Championship side Sheffield United, Palmer returned to Bristol City. Although the team was relegated from the WSL initially, she played a key role in their promotion back to the top flight. Palmer won her second Championship title with Bristol City in the 22/23 season, followed by a one-season stint at Leicester City.
Palmer expressed her enthusiasm for the move, stating, “I’m really excited to finally get it over the line. I’m really happy to be here and can’t wait to get the boots on and get started.” She added, “Towards the end of last season, I told my agent it was Southampton or nothing if I was coming down to the Championship. I’ve always admired how this club plays, so I’m excited to get going.”
Head Coach Remi Allen shared her thoughts on the signing, saying, “I’m really pleased to welcome Aimee to the club. Adding her experience and quality to the group is crucial for this season. Even though she’s still young, she knows what it takes to win promotion from this league and stay in the WSL, which aligns with our ambitions for the future of the club.”
