BREAKING NEWS: Kieran Maguire reveals if Qatar could hijack Everton takeover deal

Qatar would have to fully compensate 777 Partners in order to complete a “very complicated” hijack of the Everton takeover deal.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the exclusivity agreement between Farhad Moshiri is currently stopping a takeover hijack.

As per the New York Times, Everton has been offered to multiple parties this week including groups from Qatar.

777 Partners are still awaiting approval from the Premier League for a £500million takeover deal struck with Moshiri back in September.

As revealed by Football Insider, the US group reaffirmed their interest in completing the takeover by providing another loan deal to the Merseyside club this week.

Moshiri open to selling Everton to Qatar takeover group

Other groups remain interested in striking a deal, but the exclusivity agreement signed by Moshiri and 777 Partners is currently stopping a hijack.

However, Maguire explained that there will be “break clauses” in the exclusivity agreement which could pave the way for a Qatar deal.

“Ultimately, Farhad Moshiri will sell Everton to the highest bidder,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

“I think the challenge that he has is that 777 Partners have an exclusivity contract and we don’t know what the break clauses are if he decides to seek money elsewhere.

“So until that’s resolved, if he wants to find a Qatar-based owner he’s going to be in an awkward position.

“Now, if there’s enough money from Qatar that it allows them to pay off 777 and compensate them for their efforts to date, then we could see progress.

“But it’s clearly very complicated and very messy.“
