Callum Styles, aged 24, recently represented the Hungary national team at Euro 2024 held in Germany. Despite their victory over Scotland in their final match, Hungary did not progress beyond the group stage.

Following his international duties, Styles has been on an extended break. New Barnsley manager Darrell Clarke mentioned to the Barnsley Chronicle that Styles will begin individual training this week before rejoining the team. Clarke emphasized the importance of sitting down with Styles to discuss their respective plans moving forward and ensuring their thoughts align.

Styles, who has attracted interest from Birmingham City, remains under contract with Barnsley until June 2025, giving him another year with the club. He originally joined Barnsley as a youth player in 2018 and has since been a significant part of their setup.

Barnsley faces the risk of losing Callum Styles on a free transfer next year if they do not sell him during the current transfer window or in January. Sunderland, where Styles played on loan last season, have opted not to make his move permanent.

Styles began his career in the academy at Bury and made 47 appearances for their first team before joining Barnsley. Since joining Barnsley, he has played a total of 151 matches and scored 13 goals. Notably, Styles contributed to Barnsley’s promotion from the third tier in his debut season at the club.

During the 2022/23 season, Styles was also loaned out to Millwall, where he made 22 appearances before returning to Barnsley. His versatility and experience across different clubs make him an attractive prospect for potential suitors like Birmingham City, who have shown interest in him this summer.
