BREAKING NEWS: Luton Town man ‘almost certain’ to sign for EFL side on a permanent basis

Hull City are ‘almost certain’ to use their option to buy clause for Luton Town loanee Ryan Giles this summer, as detailed in a report by HullLive.

Hull City swooped to land the left-back in the January transfer window on a temporary basis with a choice to purchase him permanently at the end of the season. He went on to make 16 appearances for the Tigers in all competitions.

Giles, 24, was brought in by the East Yorkshire outfit to bolster their ranks as they chased down a place in the play-offs. They missed out by three points in the end following their 1-0 loss at Plymouth Argyle on the final day and ended 7th in the table.

In this latest update by HullLive, Hull City are expected to snap up Giles ahead of the next campaign as they look to mount another promotion push. He competes with Matty Jacob for a place in the starting XI at the MKM Stadium.

Signing Giles would be a shrewd bit of business by Hull City as he is arguably one of the best players in his position in the second tier.

The Tigers haven’t quite seen the best of him yet in black and amber and he lost his place in the team to Jacob in the final few fixtures of the last campaign.

The club’s hierarchy has decided to part ways with boss Liam Rosenior in a move that has raised eyebrows across the Football League and a new manager will be coming in this summer.

Giles joined Luton Town in July last year following their promotion to the top flight and he went on to play 14 matches in all competitions for the Hatters during the first-half of last term before he was given the green light to depart this past winter and move up north.

He rose up through the academy ranks at Wolves and went on to play once for their first-team after representing them at various different youth levels.

The former England youth international also had spells away from Molineux at AFC Telford United, Shrewsbury Town, Coventry City, Rotherham United, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City and Middlesbrough before they sold him.

It seems likely that Hull City will sign Giles regardless of the fact they don’t have a replacement for Rosenior yet.

The aim for the Tigers is promotion again and whoever they bring in will be under pressure to get into the top six from the off. They have a big few months ahead with incomings and outgoings on the horizon.
