BREAKING NEWS: Millwall confirm departure of a star player

Millwall have confirmed that Shaun Hutchinson is leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of next month.

The centre-back has made 257 appearances for the Lions since signing after Fulham released him in 2014.

Geordie Hutchinson also scored 14 goals – including the late winner at Bristol Rovers on the final day of the 2016-17 season which proved vital in securing a League One play-off place, with Steve Morison’s goal at Wembley securing a Championship place.

Hutchinson also scored a stoppage time clincher against Bristol City on New Year’s Day at the start of this year.

He was forced to play back-up on the bench in the closing months of the campaign with Japhet Tanganga and Jake Cooper the first-choice pairing in Neil Harris’ backline.

Bart Bialkowski is also departing but that was confirmed before Millwall’s final home game of last season against Plymouth.

Tanganga, Allan Campbell, Michael Obafemi, Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Ryan Longman all return to their parent clubs following the conclusion of their loan spells.

Abdul Abdulmalik, Nana Boateng, George Walker, Finley Cotton, Zane Myers, Seb Drozd, Kyron McKay, Frankie Hvid and Arezki Hamouchene will depart from the club’s U21s set-up, with Kamarl Grant, Tom Leahy, Chinwike Okoli, Kyle Smith and Sha’mar Lawson offered new contracts.

George Evans, Oliver Evans, Ra’ees Bangura-Williams and Henry Hearn have had options on their contracts triggered.

Albert Penney, Christopher Ojemen, Frankie Maciocia and Adedapo Olugbodi have been released at U18 level while Josh Stephenson, Alfie Massey, Frankie Baker, Jack Howland and Kavalli Heywood have been offered new deals.
