Portsmouth are looking to re-sign Jamal Lowe, who left the club in 2019 after two and a half seasons.
TBR Football reports that the League One champions are one of several second-tier clubs interested in signing the 29-year-old player.
Previously with Pompey, the versatile attacker made 119 appearances in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and collecting 18 assists to help them win the League Two title in 2017 and the EFL Trophy in 2019. He then left for an undisclosed fee to Championship side Wigan Athletic.
After leaving Portsmouth, Lowe had time in the Championship with Swansea City and Bournemouth, joining the latter in 2021. However, despite the Cherries’ promotion the following season, Lowe was unable to establish himself with the team in the Premier League.
That has resulted in two loan returns to the Championship, including a return to Swansea for the current season, and his availability this summer could mean another move to a previous club in Portsmouth.

Carlton Palmer’s Jamal Lowe verdict
Carlton Palmer, an ex-England international, believes Pompey may have a competitive advantage over other clubs. In an exclusive interview with Football League World, he stated that Portsmouth have had a terrific season.
“The League One champions with 97 points have done exceptionally well, but preparations for next season have begun.
“A couple of their forwards are on loan, including Abu Kamara, who has returned to his parent club, Norwich City.
“In preparing for life in the Championship, they will need to replace players like that, and one player who is attracting a lot of attention is Jamal Lowe, who has been on loan at Swansea.”
“He did well and will be available for free. He’s 29 years old, experienced, and has previously played for the club.
“He is no stranger to the club, but he has been unable to get to the Premier League and establish himself at Bournemouth.
“Having said that, he would be a terrific signing for Portsmouth since he is a very excellent player at Championship level and is also available for free, making it a good financial decision.
“But there are a number of clubs looking at Lowe, most likely because, as I previously stated, he is 29 and has experience in the Championship.
“Maybe Portsmouth might have an edge on other clubs due to the fact that Lowe has played for the club before.”

Jamal Lowe’s summer decision
Portsmouth want Championship-experienced players, such as Lowe, who are available for free, to help them establish themselves in the second division swiftly.
Not only that, but he is versatile enough to play out wide or up front, and he is familiar with the club, which should aid in his transition.
However, there will be considerable competition for a player with his experience this summer, with a number of Championship sides looking to add depth and quality to their attacking lines at the lowest possible cost.
