Portsmouth’s Sporting Director, Richard Hughes, has stated that they will ‘definitely’ consider re-signing Manchester City midfielder Alex Robertson this summer.
Portsmouth are set to return to the Championship after winning League One, and they have a busy few months ahead of them in terms of transfers. There are anticipated to be both arrivals and departures from Fratton Park as John Mousinho attempts to refresh his squad.
Robertson, 21, was on loan at Pompey this season and appeared in 27 games across all competitions, scoring one. He was a hit in Hampshire before suffering an injury that interrupted his season.
According to The News, Hughes expressed his support for Alex, stating that he is a talented athlete. He’s still recovering from his injuries, so we’ll have to wait and see how things go, but if we had the opportunity to repeat those conversations, we would.”
Landing Robertson again would be a big boost for Portsmouth as they look to carry on their momentum from their promotion into the next campaign in the second tier.
However, he needs to be fit though and will have to fully recover from his injury first and foremost before Pompey can make their decision.
