BREAKING NEWS: Pride of Portsmouth stuns in front of millions on world stage

On the biggest of platforms, Mark Chamberlain made another momentous move in his quickly developing career as he beamingly said, “It just doesn’t seem real.”

The delighted puncher from Portsmouth also acknowledged the tremendous support he had from his hometown after winning his most recent professional title.

With a terrifying first-round knockout victory over Nigerian Joshua Wahab, Chamberlain demonstrated why he is quickly emerging as a formidable opponent in the lightweight class and winning the WBC International Silver championship in Saudi Arabia.

It was a display of the Waterlooville man’s effortless and explosive power, as he knocked Wahab out with a devastating left-hand before a furious barrage of blows left the African needing medical care on the ground.

Now 16-0, Chamberlain had to accept the attention of the big stage — this time as an undercard act for the historic welterweight bout between British heavyweights Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

Mark Chamberlain of Portsmouth shocked everyone by stopping Joshua Oluwaseun Wahab in the first round in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

With the victory, the 25-year-old, who trains out of Panthers Gym in Southbourne, breaks into the top-10 of the WBC rankings and sets himself up for some even bigger opportunities.

And Chamberlain is committed to continuing to deliver spectacular performances for his Pompey fan base.

“To be honest with you, I spent more time warming up in the changing rooms, and it seems so surreal that it happened so quickly (the knockout of Wahab),” he remarked.

Nine weeks later, we are back-to-back camps and have won another title along the road. It feels like I was only here a week ago, competing against Gavin Gwynne and putting on a dominant show.

“I’m just grateful for these chances; appearing on shows like this is a dream come true—it’s happened to me twice in as many weeks—it’s incredible.”

It’s clear that His Excellency adores me. All I have to do is keep winning and delivering to keep him satisfied, and maybe I’ll be more than welcome back.

I simply adore everyone back home so much. Thank you so much to everyone who has listened in and sent messages tonight. I’ll definitely catch up to everyone.
