Philippe Clement might need to persuade Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Gustavo Puerta to join Rangers on loan, as reported by the Daily Record on August 18. Despite a £3 million bid from Brondby, the Bundesliga club may prefer a loan deal, according to claims by Sun’s Alan Nixon. Additionally, Tipsbladet reported on August 12 that Rangers have also made an offer for the 21-year-old Colombian.
Bringing Puerta to Ibrox could be a strategic move for Rangers. Although his experience is limited, his involvement with a title-winning Bundesliga team like Bayer Leverkusen suggests that he has been exposed to high-level competition, which is vital for Rangers’ aspirations both domestically and in Europe.
Puerta’s technical skills and passing range make him a promising candidate to fill the midfield role left vacant by Ryan Jack’s departure.
