Swansea City is in talks to sign Kaide Gordon, a young player for Liverpool, on a loan basis.
According to WalesOnline, the Swans are in a race with two other teams for the 19-year-old attacker. Today is expected to be crucial since a decision is about to be made.
The offensive midfielder, sometimes known as the winger, is a highly regarded player at Anfield and has already made several appearances for the first squad. However, he has struggled with injuries for the previous two years, which has hindered his development at the Premier League team he moved from Derby County to in 2021.
After making his senior debut away against Norwich City in the Carabao Cup in September 2021, he signed the club’s first professional contract.
When Gordon scored on his Anfield debut in the third-round victory over Shrewsbury Town in January 2022, he made history as Liverpool’s youngest-ever FA Cup scorer. Gordon also started in the Carabao Cup semi-final victory over Arsenal.
Due to a chronic pelvic injury, he missed the entire 2022–2023 season. The previous season, he made just one appearance in each of the FA Cup, Europa League, and Premier League.
In a recent interview, Gordon discussed his expectations for the upcoming season in light of Arnie Slot’s hiring at Anfield. He stated, “It’s my first pre-season in two years, I think. I’m enjoying it because, well, it’s been a while since I was around, and it feels wonderful to get back into the swing of things.
To be honest, you don’t realise how much you miss it till you’re not in it. To be honest, it’s just nice to be again part in it.
It’s the most difficult period; there are ups and downs all the time. You expect to return at a specific time, but you’re told it will take longer.
“Although it’s undoubtedly the most difficult period I’ve experienced, near the conclusion, you begin to see light at the end of the tunnel. I’m back now; all I’m trying to do is hang around and continue to be involved in everything.
“A hundred percent It makes me feel stronger because you’re all by yourself. The guys are clearly having a hard time with their training because you can see them doing it. However, the more time you spend away from it, the more you realise how much you miss it.
“It’s definitely different to how the old gaffer was, but I’m enjoying it so far and I’ll just see how the season goes.”
Following the Swans’ 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough to begin their 2024–25 campaign, word of the prospective deal was made public.
