The former Oldham Athletic and Hibernian goalkeeper earned 43 caps for Scotland and was the first-choice keeper for both Euro 92 in Sweden and Euro 96 in England.
A statement from Rangers read: “Rangers Football Club is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our legendary goalkeeper, Andy Goram, after a brief battle with cancer. The directors, management, players, and staff extend their thoughts to Andy’s family and request that their privacy be respected during this difficult time. Details of the funeral will be shared in due course.”
Former Scotland manager Craig Brown, who managed Goram at the international level, paid tribute to him. He told Sky Sports News: “He was a very popular figure, not only among his own teammates but also with the opposition. He was a fantastic goalkeeper and a genuinely nice person.”
