Vata, 18, has held talks with the Hornets over a potential switch down the border to the Championship, as per the Daily Record, with Italian sides such as AC Milan, Bologna, Sampdoria and Como in the frame too. Citte Celeste have also claimed Lazio are admirers.

In this latest update regarding his situation, the Daily Record report the Hoops have made one last throw of the dice as they look to retain his services by lodging some fresh terms. They have recently won the title ahead of rivals Rangers again.

Watford will have to wait and see on their particular pursuit as to whether Vatta puts pen-to-paper with Celtic again or decides to try his luck elsewhere.

He appears to have a lot of attention from Italy right now and a switch to a team in Serie A or Serie B may be something that turns his head.

Vata has been on the books at Celtic for his whole career to date and has risen up through their academy ranks.

He has been a key player for the Glasgow giants at various youth levels and has most recently established himself as a regular for their B team in the Lowland League, scoring 23 goals in 34 games.

Vata, who is a Republic of Ireland youth international, has also played six times for the Hoops’ first-team, chipping in with a single goal.

What next for Watford?

Watford have a big few months ahead as they gear up for Cleverley’s first full campaign at the helm.

Vata would be a shrewd addition by the Hertfordshire club if they were able to see off interest from abroad and land his signature.

He is a very promising talent and has a bright future ahead of him in the game. His situation remains up in the air though and Celtic are looking to keep hold of him.
