Breaking News : Wests Tigers lose another playmaker to rival club due to…

Alex Isdale, a talented playmaker, captained the Western Suburbs Magpies’ Harold Matthews Cup team and played a key role in their run to the grand final. A student at Westfields Sports High and Patrician Brothers Fairfield, Isdale joined the Wests Tigers’ junior representative system after starting his career with the Parramatta Eels.

However, he is now set to leave the club, following teammate Onitoni Large out the door for the next season. Sources, speaking anonymously to *Zero Tackle*, revealed that Isdale has departed the Wests Tigers and signed with the Cronulla Sharks.

His decision to switch teams comes after helping the Magpies reach the Harold Matthews Cup Grand Final, where he frequently partnered Large in the halves before Large’s injury. At the Sharks, Isdale will be aiming to make an immediate impact, potentially forming a future halves pairing with fellow rising star Riley Pollard, who is under contract until the end of the 2027 NRL season.

Despite his move, Isdale’s father, Stephen Isdale, remains head coach of the Western Suburbs Magpies’ Harold Matthews Cup team, and his younger brother, Iszak, is part of the summer squad for the upcoming season.

Alex Isdale, who looks up to Queensland Maroons and Australian Kangaroos legends Ben Hunt and Cooper Cronk, previously shared with *Zero Tackle* that he had the chance to meet current Queensland halfback Daly Cherry-Evans and receive some valuable advice.

“He was a really good guy, very generous,” Isdale said. “He told me that as a half, it’s important to kick long into the corners and keep building pressure, because the kicking game is the most crucial part.”
