BREAKING: Portsmouth ready to stake claim for exciting Crystal Palace winger linked with Leicester City, Sunderland and Hull City

Pompey is ready to express their interest in Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

However, the Blues are not giving up hope of signing the dynamic winger on loan, who is expected to be in high demand this summer.

Transfer planning are underway for what will be a busy summer of recruitment at PO4, following this season’s magnificent title victory.

Wingers appear to be a primary priority, with Paddy Lane and Callum Lang presently the only contractual players that play in that area of the pitch.

Rak-Sakyi is a player John Mousinho would like to have at Fratton Park next season, as the 21-year-old provides the type of attacking quality needed in the Championship.

There are concerns inside the Fratton football organisation regarding the approach to securing a deal for the Londoner, who made a significant impression on loan with Charlton during the 2022-23 season.

Rak-Sakyi presently appears to be out of favour at Selhurst Park, having not made a squad since Oliver Glasner’s hiring in February, except for an unused substitute in their 1-1 draw at Fulham at the end of last month.

Pompey have taken note of this, with Mousinho keen to be in the running to sign the man who has made six Premier League appearances this season if he becomes available.

The futures of Michael Olise and Ebrechi Eze are important considerations, with Olise connected with Manchester City and Eze rumoured to join Tottenham or Manchester City.

Exits for the pair would move Rak-Sakyi up the Palace pecking order, while his availability would likely start a bidding war for his services after Sunderland, Leicester, and Hull expressed interest in him last summer.

Pompey are aware that a loan move for Rak-Sakyi may occur late in the transfer window, as is typical of such deals.

Clubs typically examine their squads in preseason, with their own recruitment strategies becoming clearer as the September 1 deadline approaches.

Once teams realise they have cover, fringe players like Rak-Sakyi may leave.

Pompey would undoubtedly like to be included in that conversation if such a scenario arises, freeing them to focus on other alternatives in a department that is likely to require major improvement this summer.

Pompey are still interested in Rak-Sakyi’s teammate Jadan Raymond, with a deal for the 20-year-old being discussed during the January window.
