Brock Faber and Connor Bedard lead the 2024 NHL All-Rookie Team.

The 2024 All-Rookie team was announced at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas, featuring goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov, defenders Brock Faber and Luke Hughes, and forwards Connor Bedard, Logan Cooley, and Marco Rossi. Three players who were chosen unanimously for the 2023–24 NHL All-Rookie Team were Connor Bedard, Brock Faber, and Luke Hughes. Bedard was the winner of the Calder Trophy.

Coming into the season as the No. 1 overall pick in 2023, Bernard had superstar hype, his background matching that of future Hall-of-Famers Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid.

With 22 goals and 61 points in 68 games despite playing for a weaker Hawks team, the 18-year-old sniper lived up to the anticipation with the Chicago Blackhawks, taking home the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s best rookie. Bedard will be even more effective the next season if he can avoid suffering another broken jaw and make use of the return of former MVP Taylor Hall, who missed all but ten games in 2023–24. For the now-defunct Arizona Coyotes, Cooley had 44 points in 82 games and showed great resiliency in the final stretch, scoring 17 goals in 47 games following the New Year. The former standout from college is expected to be a major member of the newly established Utah Hockey Club.

Despite his small frame, Rossi’s eagerness to drive the net helped him become a fan favorite with the Minnesota Wild, as he finished with the second-most goals of any rookie (21). The Austrian is expected to start in Minnesota’s top six in 2024–25.

Brock Faber, a teammate of Rossi, finished second in the Calder and garnered 42 first-place votes. Faber scored eight goals and forty-seven points while averaging the sixth-highest amount of ice time in the NHL (24:58). The 21-year-old, who was a monster in all situations for the Wild in his homeland, is qualified for a lucrative contract extension this summer. Although Hughes’ defensive effect on the New Jersey Devils was not as immediate as Faber’s, he still tied him for second place in rookie scoring with 9 goals and 47 points. He took over as the leader of the Devils’ 13th-ranked powerplay in lieu of an injured Dougie Hamilton.

After starting 42 games for the Carolina Hurricanes, who finished with 111 points, Kochetkov enters the cage with minimal opposition. After a rough start, the Russian went 20-9-3 with a 2.17 GAA and.917 SV% after December 1. He is expected to challenge playoff starter Frederik Andersen for additional playing time the following season. The five hope they’re only beginning to explore the full potential of what they can achieve in the NHL after making a great impression in their rookie seasons.
