After defeating New Zealand 17–10, the Fiji Airways Men’s 7s team took home a bronze medal from the HSBC Madrid SVNS in Spain. In pool play, Fiji had earlier triumphed against New Zealand 28–26. Over the past three days, the squad has felt the impact of Jerry Tuwai’s comeback.
In the first half, both teams scored two tries apiece. Fiji led 12–10 at halftime with to touchdowns from Waisea Nacuqu and captain Ponipate Loganimasi. In the second spell, Iowane Teba scored the lone try.
