Bula Boys call up Matarereqa

Due to his excellent performance in the domestic stage, Russiate Matarereqa, a striker for Nadroga, has been called up to the Fiji football extended squad.

The 26-man team will be getting ready for the June Oceania Nations Cup in Vanuatu.

With his recent goal-scoring surge, Matarereqa leads the Digicel Fiji Premier League in Golden Boot numbers.

Additionally, veteran William Valentine of Nadi, Lekima Gonerau of Labasa, Brendon McMullen of Fiji Under-23, and Gabirele Matanisiga of Wellington Olympic have been called up by coach Rob Sherman.

Nabil Beg from Auckland City and Scott Wara from England are also featured.

Due to work and injury problems, respectively, Suva stopper Akuila Mateisuva and England-based Josh Laqeretabua have been left off the roster.

Together with Tahiti, Samoa, and Papua New Guinea, Fiji is pooled.

On June 16, Sherman’s team takes on PNG in their inaugural game.
