The first round draw of the Carabao Cup was finalized on Thursday morning, revealing the mid-August opponents for clubs in the English Football League.
Leeds will face Championship rivals Middlesbrough in one of the highlight matches of the Carabao Cup first round. The draw for this opening round occurred on Thursday morning. Teams from the Championship, League One, and League Two enter the competition at this stage, except for Burnley and Luton, who were relegated from the Premier League.
Top-flight clubs join the Carabao Cup in the second round, with those competing in Europe entering in the third round. Liverpool claimed the trophy last season by defeating Chelsea at Wembley, with Virgil van Dijk scoring the decisive goal.
