After weeks of rumors over his future with the Bluebirds, Cardiff City manager Erol Bulut signed a new two-year contract with the team.
The former Turkish international signed a one-year contract with Cardiff City last summer.
As the season came to an end, supporters of Bulut worried that the team would have to look for a new manager for another summer.
After a challenging season in which the Bluebirds fired two managers, Bulut took over for Sabri Lamouchi, who led the team to safety.
During a season marred by long-term injuries to players, notably Wales captain Aaron Ramsey, Cardiff City finished 12th in the Championship table, 11 points outside of the play-off spots.
“I’m really happy and proud to be extending my time with you all here in the capital city of Wales,” Bulut remarked.
It is my pleasure to be leading our club into the future, and I am grateful for the chance Tan Sri Vincent has given me. I would want to thank him for that.
“I would also like to express my gratitude to Ken Choo and Mehmet Dalman for their assistance, as well as to the Cardiff City supporters who have contributed to the fun and exciting voyage thus far.
“To be a member of your family is an honor.”
Owner of the Bluebirds Tan Sri Vincent Tan stated: “Under Erol’s direction last season, it was evident that we were improving and moving forward. He has, in my opinion, established a solid groundwork for future development.
“I’m wishing Erol, his team, and his staff all the best of luck in the upcoming season. I’m sending them my best wishes and whole support.
Although Bulut caused division among the Cardiff City supporters, dissatisfaction had been mounting due to the inability to reach a consensus over Bulut’s future in the Welsh capital.
A statement from the Cardiff City Supporters Trust last week stated that there had been “no sign of any progress on this issue” as a result of this..
